It is with great honor, pleasure and enthusiasm to become the next Principal of Aurora Century Elementary School. I am truly humbled to be selected for this position and am very eager to help make our school a shining beacon in Aurora Public Schools!
The son of a naval father and committed mother, I have lived in a lot of places around the US. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived in Maine and Georgia before settling in Charleston, South Carolina with my older sister Stephanie and younger brother Brandon. When my father retired from the military after 20 years, we moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where I graduated high school and went on to attend the University of Memphis in Memphis TN. Following graduation I moved to the Washington DC area where I worked and lived in both Virginia and Maryland. I began teaching fourth grade in Clinton, Maryland and ultimately taught third - sixth grades. I earned my masters degree from George Mason University in Educational Leadership before leaving the classroom to become an instructional coach and eventually an Assistant Principal in Washington, DC. It is there where I forged my philosophy of education from my various experiences teaching and leading and transformed my school into one of the highest performing schools in the district . I am now excited to call Colorado my new home.
I truly believe in full collaboration and partnerships with students staff and families. The job of educating children is perhaps the most difficult job in the world. It takes hard work, dedication and a commitment to excellence from everyone involved in order to achieve success. I am excited to put my passion for education, my strong work ethic and my commitment to families and communities to work for you at Century Elementary School
Please have a relaxing and enjoyable summer. I look forward to meeting everyone at the start of the new school year.
